LUGAR DE TRABAJO: INSTITUTO DE INVESTIGACIONES – FACULTAD DE PSICOLOGIA – UBA – AV. INDEPENDENCIA 3065 3º PISO. (1225). CAPITAL FEDERAL.

SUMMARY: “The process of change : obstacles and alternatives”. Director: Prof. Jorge C. Franco. Research Institute of Psychology College - Buenos Aires University – August 2003 Going on with UBACyT research Project, about process of change where four groups had been studied, aiming to explore their conscious about psychic change. The purpose is to extend the sample to other risk groups or with different levels of vulnerability: women less than 15 years old with children, pregnant women less than 15 on social risk, pregnant adult women, pregnant women with children less than 12 months, premature babies and their family group, less than 18 years old orphan. Methodology before-after treatment to be applied, links qualitative and quantitative methods. Actual hypothesis supports that social self-concept meaningly improves after change process. Self esteem will be measured before and after to verify differences. Basis consists on cognitive recategorization, systematic attention and the presence of a trained participant observer who attends change process. Aim of this research is to describe – construct – install “the observer” who produces change in a controlled and intentional way. Changes are positive in those cases where mixed strategies are implemented (two systems view – natural assessments). Pure strategies when applied would not work, giving not similar outcomes. Creative stability – resisting pressures- is necessary to install change: disorder, chaos are obstacles. Recategorizing, insight, metacognition , being distinct, are events for change.
