EVALUATION OF THE LEARNING PROCESSES, WAYS OF REASONING AND WRITTEN PRODUCTIONS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS Research Institute – School of Psychology – University of Buenos Aires This research covers three areas. In the area of the EVALUATION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ LEARNING PROCESSES our aim is to know, within the scope of technological education, how students are evaluated, which are the professors’ conceptions about evaluation, which level of participation students have in the analysis and decisions about evaluation and how are teaching and learning activities combined with evaluation. In the area of ACADEMIC TEXT PRODUCTION BY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS we want to know, in the scope of Psychology, which are the difficulties students find in text writing, the incidence of attitude and sociocultural factors in this task, and the actions and criteria educators take in order to orient this task. We will design and test a procedure for students to regulate their writing. In the area of PROBABILISTIC REASONING we will study students’ way of reasoning when they must solve a random situation, to what extent they base their solutions on heuristic, and how to categorize those ways. We are also concerned with the incidence of ambiguous ordinary language in the attribution of probability as well as with unfounded confidence in predictions. These three areas meet at a point characterized by written language used in probabilistic reasoning and the wide use of text production in evaluation.
