THE CLINICAL INFERENTIAL PROCESS OF PSYCHOTHERAPIST WITH DIFFERENT THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK AND LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE. CONTINUATION OF A STUDY.
The aim of this project is to continue studying the issue of clinical inference in psychotherapy, focusing on the similarities and differences of psychotherapists with different theoretical backgrounds and with different level of professional experience. The main purpose is to study the patterns used by the participant psychotherapists in their clinical data processing and to explore the ways in which clinical inferences are formulated.
For this purpose, the sample of 110 subjects will be extended, and 20 more subjects will be included in order to balance the sample. New quanti-qualitative analysis will be conducted in order to study different types of inferences: deductive, inductive and abductive. Possible connections between the moments in the patient´s discourse from which the therapists select cues to elaborate their clinical inferences will be studied. The nature of the cues selected: explicit/manifest or latent and the use of pro-inferences will be explored.
The content of the inferences will be also evaluated using the Q-sort  items for psychotherapy (Jones) and the possible relationship with the theoretical framework and level of experience will be studied. Besides, the linguistic style associated with the Referential Activity of the clinical discourse (Bucci) used as the stimulus material is related to the level of experience and theoretical framework, wiil be also explored.
