ETHICAL DILEMMAS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL PRACTICE: THE DIALOGUE WITH OTHER DISCIPLINARY DISCOURSES IN VARIED INSTITUCIONAL CONTEXTS. DESCRIPTIVE EXPLORATORY STUDY ON THE BASIS OF A CUALI-QUANTITATIVE INVESTIGATION.
This project has a thematic continuity with the project Ethical issues of Psychology in the legal scope and other institutional contexts. Descriptive exploratory study on the basis of a cuali-quantitative investigation (UBACyT 2010-2012), in order to deepen the progress made and to investigate issues that showed their relevance during the investigative process. Mental health practices carried out in the legal field and in other institutional settings (mental health, educational, work, hospitals, courts, etc.) meet other academic disciplinary discourses and their practices. Often, it is not only interdisciplinary work, joint tasks with other professions and their conceptual corpus, but lead to situations in which the psychologist's work is shaped by that encounter. Sometimes those other speeches as well as institutional normative systems legal, ethical, organizational or institutional impose guidelines of professional conduct that are controversial for the development of our work. Therefore, psychologists should face ethical dilemmas and the need to think over the professional role. In order to identify and systematize the ethical dilemmas that stand out for their recurrence and thematic relevance, the project raises a twofold objective: 1) To construct a picture of situation of the ethical issues that arise in the interweaving of the psychological practice and practices of other disciplines in varied institutional contexts, based on the study of: a) judicial contexts and b) other institutional areas of professional work. 2) To identify the ethical conceptions of psychologists about their professional function facing dilemmatic situations raised in the aforementioned dialogue. For that purpose, an update of the state-of-the-art (bibliographical research, results of investigations, deontological and legal frame), and a field study (research of dilemmatic cases, research of the answers of psychologists facing dilemmatic situations) will take place. This descriptive exploratory study consists of four phases that come together in the logical organization and systematization of the research results.
