El presente trabajo de investigación no ha recibido auspicio especial que deba mencionarse. Se ha realizado durante un año como parte del proceso de investigación que se lleva a cabo con los estudiantes de último año en las líneas de investigación.

Resumen:
ACTITUDES HACIA EL TRASTORNO MENTAL Y BUSQUEDA DE AYUDA PSICOLÓGICA PROFESIONAL EN ADOLESCENTES DE LA CIUDAD DE BUCARAMANGA
El objetivo de este estudio fue explorar las actitudes de un grupo de adolescentes hacia el trastorno mental y hacia la búsqueda de ayuda psicológica profesional así como las posibles correlaciones de estas con la edad, el nivel educativo, el estrato socioeconómico y el género de los examinados. Se realizó una investigación de tipo no experimental- correlacional- transversal, con una muestra de 200 participantes, 100 hombres y 100 mujeres entre los 13 y 19 años de edad, pertenecientes a los estratos socioeconómicos 1, 2,3 y 4. Se aplicó la escala de actitudes hacia el trastorno mental (EATM) (Borshuk, 2001) y el inventario de actitudes hacia la búsqueda de ayuda psicológica profesional (IABAPP) (Dominicus, 2005). Los hallazgos mostraron once actitudes hacia el trastorno mental: Integración, Exclusión, Negativismo, Reserva, Predicción, Estigma, Vulnerabilidad, Estereotipo, Apoyo emocional, Incredulidad y prejuicio; también se hallaron tres actitudes hacia la búsqueda de ayuda profesional: Vergüenza, Apertura al tratamiento y Autosuficiencia. La edad, el estrato y el nivel educativo no se correlacionaron significativamente con las dos actitudes examinadas, tampoco hubo diferencias de género. La correlación entre los dos tipos de actitudes fue positiva y moderada (r=0.488),o sea, que: Mejores actitudes hacia el trastorno mental sugieren mayor búsqueda de ayuda profesional.

Abstract:
ATTITUDES TOWARDS MENTAL DISORDER AND THE PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP SEEKING IN A TEENAGERS SAMPLE IN THE CITY OF BUCARAMANGA.
The objective of this survey wasto explore the attitudes of a teenagers group towards mental disorder and towards profesional psychological help seeking as well as to examine the posible correlation of them with the age,education,economical status and differences with gender in participants. A no experimental- cross-correlational design was done with a 200 participants, 100 women and 100 men sample between 13 and 19 aged teenagers belonging to one and fourth economical stata. Scales: OMI (Borshuk, 2001) and (IABAPP) (Dominicus, 2005) were used. The finding show eleven attitudes towards mental disorder: Integration,exclusion,negativism,reserve,prediction,stigm,vulnerability,stereotype,emotional support,unbelieveness and prejudice; three atttitudes towards profesional psychological help seeking were founded too: Shame,openness to treatment and self-sufficientcy.Age, economical status and education doesn´t correlate themselves significantly with the two both attitudes evaluated, neither there were differences between genders about them.Correlation between the two attitudes was positive and moderated (r=0.488).In conclusión, better attitudes towards mental disorder suggest more profesional help seeking.
