CONTEMPORARY MODES OF SUBJETIVIZATION: LOVING, EROTIC, CONJUGAL AND PARENTAL DIVERSITIES IN URBAN AND MIDDLE CLASS POPULATION.
In this new century different loving, erotic, conjugal and parental modes have become more visible, all of which are showing deep transformations in the contemporary modes of subjectivization. They present today a great challenge to research in this area. Social practices are changing faster than theories. It is necessary to build and implement conceptual and methodological categories that can capture the logics of diversity in which contemporary modes of subjectivization deploy. Considering this wide and complex scenario, this project will investigate how different loving, erotic, conjugal and parental strategies are organized and signified in young urban population of Buenos Aires city. Possible connections between their imaginary social significations and concrete practices will be established. This is an exploratory and descriptive project in which a qualitative methodology will be used to collect and analyze data. The methodology used will be Recursive Problematization Methodology. This methodology was constructed and applied by this team in previous research, operationalizing the research of social imaginaries and modes of subjectivization and distinguishing transformations in imaginary significations, practices and values from different social actor, in the public and private spheres. Our initial hypothesis are: a) Young adults from middle class and urban sectors in Buenos Aires city display loving, erotic, conjugal and parental diversities in which traditional and new imaginary significations and social practices coexist, b) It is possible to establish a connection between the transformation of loving, erotic, conjugal and parental practices of young adults from middle class and urban settings and the habits of child rearing; and c) The NGO and institutions that fight for the rights of minorities nominate and signify their loving, erotic, conjugal and parental practices from diversity logics which resist identitary and binary definitions. In order to cover as much social space and existing networks as possible, to be able to locate where and in what ways new imaginary significations and social practices are being invented, even if they are incipient, we will work with different instruments to collect data, with urban population of young adults in Buenos Aires city, with NGO and institutions which fight for the right of minorities and with professionals from different academic backgrounds.
