DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF CHILDREN PSYCHOTHERAPIST?S INTERVENTIONS. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE INTERVENTIONS IN INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, FOCUSED INDIVIDUAL AND FOCUSED GROUP PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY.

In this project we perform a descriptive study of the therapist?s interventions in four types of children psychoanalytical psychotherapy: individual, group, focused individual and focused group, in order to analyze their characteristics and detect the existence of specificities. Observational records of sessions of the four types of children psychoanalytical psychotherapy will be analyzed, with particular emphasis in the following interventions of the psychotherapist: setting, transference interpretation, extra-transference interpretation, signaling, directive intervention, playful intervention, questioning and physical support. For this study we will use the method to determine the therapeutical efficacy built by the teaching research team in a previous project (Copyright Nº 5117227), which implies the assistance of Atlas.ti software for the quali-quantitive data analysis. The following are the procedures applicable to the hermeneutic units created from the observational records of sessions: codification, writing of memos and comments, search and recovery of information and reckoning of codes co-occurrence and frequency. Regarding codification, it will be carried out taking into account the type of intervention, the theoretical contents involved (anxieties, defensive mechanisms and emotions among others), the non-theoretical or thematic contents, the intended recipients, the moment of the session in which it is done and the opportunity and effect of each intervention in relation to the response of the patient or patients. For the purpose of homogenizing the sample, we will consider the psychotherapy observational records of children between 6 and 8 years old and select psychotherapists with two years of training in the technique of the types of psychotherapy studied. Modifications have been done to the observational records to preserve confidentiality. The comparative analysis of the interventions and contrast of the results will allow to define clearly the characteristics and specificities of the interventions made in each type of psychotherapy. The systematic empirical study of therapist?s interventions will contribute to the improvement of the strategies used to achieve a greater psychotherapeutical efficacy and it constitutes a valid tool for the theoretical education and clinical training of students and graduates.
