THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DECISION MAKING IN PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID INTERVENTIONS OF VOLONTEERS IN CATASTROPHES ACCORDING TO: WAYS OF COPING, THE DOMINANT DECISION MAKING STYLE, THE PERSONALITY, THE OPENESS TO THE OTHERS AND PRO SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

It will be done an explicative research with a transversal design with the aim of determining the efficacy of the Psychological First Aid (PFA) interventions? in volunteers who help in major disaster, about making decisions, their coping strategies, their making decisions predominant style, their personality, their openness to others and their pro social behavior. Hypothesis: the making decisions style affects their effectiveness. There is an interaction effect of the training and the type of decision on effectiveness; the adjustment between the type of decision-making and the decision-making style means greater effectiveness of decision; the previous experience in major disasters has a modulator effect on the intervention ´effectiveness; volunteers with previous experience show higher rates of extroversion, openness to others, pro social behavior and active coping styles compared to volunteers who don´t have it; the higher the rates of these characteristics, the more the effectiveness of the interventions, becoming these characteristics the PFA profile´s; and the volunteers with PFA profile´s made more effective interventions. To test them, it will be developed a simulation software with various disaster situations during which participants must make decisions. Then, Experiment 1 was carried out with an intentional non-probabilistic sample of 240 people through a factorial design randomized 2 x 2 x 2 whose independent variables are: experience, training (or may not have training in psychological first aid) and type of decision (intuitive or analytical); and the dependent variable: effectiveness of the intervention. In addition, standardized instruments will also be used for the measurement of organismic psychological variables. From the results, a PFA profile will be developed, depending on the predictors variables of greater effectiveness of the intervention. To test it, Experiment 2 was carried out with the same software and other sample of 120 volunteers (trained in PFA), with a 2 x 2 factorial design whose independent variables will be: PFA profile, making decision type; and de dependent: effectiveness of the intervention.
