Freud’s discovery of infantile sexuality is the kickoff of a series of psychoanalytic observations of children of different ages. From the same time date the first attempts at psychoanalytic cures with children. This article explains the central ideas of Hermine Hug-Hellmuth, Anna Freud, Sophie Morgenstern, and Melanie Klein. It also deals with the beginnings of this practice in our country, next to Arminda Aberastury and Elizabeth Garma. A brief tour of the first theories on psychoanalysis of children is carried out, tracing the explicit and implicit notions about the ideas of “child” and “parents”  that the different authors support. It also reflects on the role of women in analytic practice with children, which was undertaken mostly by non-medical women.

El descubrimiento por parte de Freud de la sexualidad infantil, es el puntapié inicial de una serie de observaciones psicoanalíticas centradas en los niños. De la misma época, datan los primeros intentos de realizar curas psicoanalíticas con niños. Se exponen las ideas centrales de Hermine Hug-Hellmuth, de Anna Freud, de Sophie Morgenstern, y de Melanie Klein. Asimismo se aborda los comienzos de dicha práctica en nuestro país, junto a Arminda Aberastury y Elizabeth Garma.

Se realiza un breve recorrido por las primeras teorizaciones sobre psicoanálisis de niños, rastreando las nociones explícitas e implícitas sobre las ideas de “niño” y de “padres” que sostienen las distintas autoras. Asimismo, se reflexiona sobre el lugar de la mujer en la práctica analítica con niños, ya que fue emprendida en su gran mayoría, por mujeres no-médicas.
