RESUMEN

Palabras clave: The purpose of this work is to determine what were the ways of compensation of psychosis in Van Gogh. It is investigated the resources that enabled the artist to provisionally solve the symbolic scarcity. The epistolary exchange between the painter and his brother Theo is used as the main biographic source of this work. The analysis performed has an exploratory character, according to the contributions made by Jacques Lacan. An examination of the elementary phenomenon category is carried out in order to inquire about the hallucination and the possibility of a delirious construction. Then, a comparison is established between Joyce’s and Gogh’s solutions to be able to sustain the knotting. Finally, it is inferred that the painter used two compensation resources to solve the failings of the knot: On the one hand, he used his imaginary relations with Theo and Gauguin; and on the other he used his artistic production. Nevertheless, these recourses were not enough to avoid the destiny of the painter.

SUMMARY
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar cuáles fueron los modos de compensación de la psicosis en Van Gogh. Se busca indagar los recursos que posibilitaron al artista remediar provisoriamente, la carencia simbólica. Como fuente biográfica principal se utiliza el intercambio epistolar entre el pintor y su hermano Theo. El análisis que se efectúa es de carácter exploratorio, bajo los aportes de Jaques Lacan. Se procede a examinar la categoría de fenómeno elemental para interrogase sobre la alucinación y la posibilidad de una construcción delirante. A continuación, se compara la solución de Joyce con la de Van Gogh para sostener el anudamiento. Finalmente se conjetura que fueron dos los recursos de compensación que utilizó el pintor para reparar la falla del nudo: por un lado, sus relaciones imaginarias con Theo y Gauguin y por otro lado, su producción artística, aunque éstos no fueron suficientes para evitar el destino del pintor.
