Los hospitales constituyen hoy un ámbito en el cual se ofrece atención psicoanalítica a vastos sectores de la población que no podrían de otro modo acceder a ella. La coexistencia de discursos, la incidencia de las exigencias propias de la salud pública, la presión y la variabilidad de las demandas, así como las condiciones de tiempo y dinero constituyen condiciones que dan ciertas peculiaridades a la práctica del psicoanálisis en ellos y que requieren ser estudiadas con detenimiento.

Esta investigación se propone indagar los diversos modos en que terminan los tratamientos de orientación psicoanalítica en el hospital público y precisar cuáles son las variables relevantes que intervienen en el momento de la terminación así como la relación que mantienen entre ellas. La hipótesis general del trabajo es que en los modos de terminación de los tratamientos en el hospital intervienen las condiciones institucionales, la posición del practicante, la posición y características del paciente y las peculiaridades de ese proceso terapéutico según diferentes relaciones en cada caso,. Se tratará entonces de explorar estas relaciones a partir de una interrogación al analista sobre su práctica y del estudio de algunos casos en profundidad realizados a partir del relato del practicante que ha tenido a su cargo el tratamiento.

This research proposes to look into the different ways in which the psychoanalytical orientation treatments end in public hospitals and to determ which are the variables that are relevant at the end of the treatment as well as the relationship that exist between them.

The general hypothesis of this research is that the institutional conditions, the status of the hospital intern, the characteristics of the patient and the specific features of the therapeutic process has bearing on the way treatments in hospital end.
