El presente trabajo intenta describir las variables que definen al diagnóstico en psicoanálisis, centrándose particularmente en las dificultades que se presentan en cuanto a la delimitación del síntoma en la neurosis. para ello se toman como referencia las elaboraciones de Sigmund Freud y Jacques Lacan relativas al tema. Se distinguen, en esta vía, los efectos propios del trabajo defensivo frente al mismo síntoma, la ausencia de ruptura entre el síntoma y el reconocimiento narcisístico necesaria para que el síntoma sea abordable analíticamente y las dificultades propias del fenómeno transferencial.

The present study tries to describe the variables that determine the diagnosis in psychoanalysis, focusing particularly on the difficulties that arise in regard to the neurosis symptom’s delimitation. The authors try to accomplish this on the basis of the works of Sigmund Freud y Jacques Lacan about this topic. in this way, the effects of the defensive work facing up to the symptom are distinguished, as well as the absence of rupture between the symptom and the narcissistic recognition required for the symptom to be analytically accessible. At last, the difficulties derived from the transferencial phenomenon are also recognized.
