RESUMEN


Palabras clave: This work describes the relationship between the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud and the theory of degeneration. Accordingly, I analyze the various occasions in which Freud mentioned the psychiatric theory in his writings, his letters and during the meetings of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society. The text also briefly describes the notions of the theory of degeneration; moreover, I make some considerations about the way in which several historians have explained the relationship between that theory and the freudian knowledge.

SUMMARY
El presente trabajo analiza la relación de la teoría psicoanalítica de Sigmund Freud con el paradigma psiquiátrico de la heredo-degeneración. En tal sentido, se realiza un análisis de las múltiples ocasiones en que Freud se refirió a dicha teoría psiquiátrica en sus escritos, en su correspondencia y en las reuniones de la Sociedad Psicoanalítica de Viena. En el texto se ofrece asimismo una sucinta caracterización de las nociones de la teoría de la degeneración, así como también un comentario acerca de la forma en que diversos historiadores se han referido a la ligazón existente entre aquella y el saber freudiano.
