Resumen :
Esta investigación forma parte de estudios que nuestro equipo viene desarrollando en forma continua desde 1986 en el área de la orientación vocacional y ocupacional. Nuestra línea de investigación aborda la problemática de las transiciones que enfrentan los jóvenes al finalizar la escuela media, las representaciones sociales que tienen sobre el estudio y el trabajo, los procesos psicológicos de formación y transformaciones de sus proyectos para el futuro y las estrategias y recursos personales que movilizan.
En este proyecto, nuestro interés es ampliar la perspectiva de estos estudios, enfocando las trayectorias de estudio y de trabajo que construyen los jóvenes en los procesos de transición. Con este propósito, continuaremos el seguimiento de un grupo de jóvenes que finalizaron en 1999 la escuela media pública en el partido de Avellaneda, e iniciaremos el estudio de estudiantes de la carrera de Psicología de la UBA, cohorte 1996.
Enfrentando los cambios y crisis del mundo moderno, la crisis económica y laboral de nuestro país y la propia crisis vital, los jóvenes construyen sus itinerarios y su identidad. Estas crisis son también identitarias, porque los cambios del contexto perturban la imagen y estima de sí, la definición que el sujeto se da a sí de sí mismo.
Además de los objetivos teóricos que nos guían para analizar las trayectorias educativas y laborales que construyen los jóvenes y los factores que explican las diferencias, este estudio tiene un interés práctico, ya que conduce a interrogarnos sobre la estructura de los dispositivos psico-educativos necesarios para preparar a los jóvenes para enfrentar las múltiples transiciones que deberán efectuar en el curso de su existencia.

EDUCATIONAL and JOB CAREER of the YOUNG
This investigation is part of a series of studies that our team has been developing continuously since 1986 in the area of vocational and occupational guidance. Our line of research tackles the troublesome transitions that the young face when finishing secondary school, their social representation over study and work, the psychological processes involved in the creation and transformation of their projects for the future and the strategies and personal resources they apply.
In this project, our target is to widen the perspective of these studies, focusing on the studying and working career the young build up throughout the transition processes. Thus, we will follow up the movements of a group of youngsters that finished the public secondary school in 1999 in the district of Avellaneda and we will start investigating a group of Psichology students of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) which start their studies in 1996.
The young set up their itineraries and identity withing the context of the modern world changes and crises, the economic and labor problems of our country and the vital crisis itself. These are also identity crises since the changes in the environment impact on their self-image, their confidence and their self-definition.
In addition to the theoretical objectives that guide our analysis of the educational and job career of the young and the factors that explain the differences, this study has a practical interest since it leads us to question ourselves over the structure of the psycho-educational devices needed to prepare the young to face the multiple transitions they will have to go through along their existence.
