Abstract
This peper presents any results of a research-action carried out by members
of the Clinical Psychopedagogy faculty of the School of Psychology, University
of Buenos Aires, sponsored by UNICEF Argentina, in which different strategies
were applied for the narrative capacity development in childhood.
The experience was organized in relation to the hypothesis that the development
of narrative capacity in young children boosts the reflexivity and critical
thought which place them in better conditions to access the complexity of a
world at risk (unemployment, exclusion, wars, computer science, systematic learning).
The paper is intended to analyze the investigative results obtained from the
analysis of eighty meetings of discursive interchange video-recording among
preschoolers coordinated by an adult. According to the statistic results obtained,
proposals that enhance the dialogical interchange characteristics and the position
of the adult which favor the critical thought and the complexity of symbolic
production in childhood, were elaborated.
Throughout the experience, we tried to listen more than to speak; to recover
knowledge, more than to consolidate certainties; to produce knowledge more than
to receive it, to foster what is discordant and different more than to reaffirm
what is known. Briefly it was attempted to place the child in a reflexive and
critical position that facilitates the access to the high symbolization levels
that current society requires.
The intervention model did not attempt to teach how to speak but to subjectively
incentivate the children in the production of symbols complexity which opens
the access to the knowledge world. Narration was chosen as gender for the incentive
of orality and thought, by considering that it requires a causative logical
order that stimulates the narrator's reflexivity and critical positioning.
Key words: subjective constitution -narrative capacity - symbolic production - critical thought.
