PRE-PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY IN ARGENTINA. PSYCHOLOGY TRAINING PROJECTS WITHIN A SOCIAL, HISTORIC AND POLITICAL FRAMEWORK.
This paper reviews and makes a systematic analysis of the Psychology training projects prior to its professional development.
The academic training that took place between the 1920’s and the 1940’s will be defined through the comparison of the professional projects and the social role
of their services, and the implicit conception of Psychology and the individual. Also, the application scope, its relation with the historic framework and the official socio-political conception will be reviewed.
The prevailing lines will be the projects based on the “orientation” which are applied to the educational and labour area, as well as the projects with “public assistance” objectives related to social medicine.
The evolution of these lines will be addressed with emphasis on the political changes in the social conception. Special attention will be given to the complementary relationship between official and private ventures that set forth proposals to articulate the social and the subjective approach.
Finally, the paper will look into the status of both lines prior to the creation of the Psychology Course and their inclusion in the first curriculum design.
