Los pacientes con esclerosis múltiple (EM) presentan alteraciones cognitivas y motoras que afectan su vida diaria.Generalmente estas variables se cuantifican por separado, sin embargo estudios recientes han encontrado unainteracción entre ambas (Interacción Cognitiva-Motora, ICM). Hasta el momento, en nuestro país no se han halladoreportes acerca del desempeño en tareas de ICM en pacientes con EM. El paradigma utilizado en este proyecto permiteun enfoque más ecológico para la descripción de los síntomas de los pacientes. El objetivo general del proyecto seráestudiar la ICM en pacientes con EM. Se analizarán las diferencias entre el rendimiento de pacientes y controles sanos,asimismo se analizará la relación entre la ICM y el status laboral. Por último, se analizará su relación con alteracionescognitivas, evolución de la enfermedad, fatiga, discapacidad física y depresión. Se evaluarán 50 pacientes con EMrecaída remisión (RR) y 50 controles sanos. Se realizarán los siguientes procedimientos: evaluación neurológica; escalaEDSS; escala de Empleo; inventario de depresión de Beck II; cuestionario de fatiga FSS; batería neuropsicológicaBICAMS; y tarea de ICM.Los hallazgos relevados permitirán a los profesionales una mayor comprensión acerca de lasintomatología de esta enfermedad, lo que beneficiará los futuros tratamientos rehabilitadores.

COGNITIVE-MOTOR INTERACTION IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND ITS IMPLICATION IN THE EMPLOYMENT STATUS

Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) present cognitive and motor alterations that affect their daily life. Generally,cognitive and motor variables are quantified separately, however recent studies have found an interaction betweenthem (Cognitive-Motor Interaction, CMI). So far, in our country there have been no reports about the performance ofCMI tasks in patients with MS. The paradigm used in this project allows a more ecological approach to the descriptionof patients' symptoms. The general objective of the project will be to study CMI in patients with MS. The differencesbetween the in CMI performance of patients and healthy controls will be analyzed, as well as the relationship between theCMI and the work status. Finally, its relationship with cognitive alterations, evolution of the disease, physical disabilityand depression will be analyzed.120 patients with relapsing remitting (RR) MS and 50 healthy controls will be evaluated.The following procedures will be performed: neurological evaluation; EDSS scale; Work status scale; Beck II depressioninventory; BICAMS neuropsychological battery; and ICM's task.The findings will allow professionals to better understandthe symptoms of this disease, which will benefit future rehabilitation treatments.
