Resumen en español:

El marco de investigación de la beca tiene como objetivo especificar subtipos cognitivos de alteraciones de la
lectura (alexia) y de la escritura (agrafia) en pacientes afásicos hispanohablantes. Para esto es necesario diseñar pruebas comportamentales psicolingüísticas adicionales a los que ya existen para medir variables como el tiempo de respuesta y la tasa de acierto. Específicamente, deberé seleccionar estímulos idóneos en las que equilibre o controle experimentalmente variables psicolingüísticas como la frecuencia, concretud y longitud léxica y la longitud y complejidad oracional. Además, analizaré la bibliografía actualizada sobre las bases neurofisiológicas, los hallazgos neuropsicológicos y los modelos cognitivos y neurales de la lectura y la escritura. El análisis bibliográfico incluirá investigaciones psicolingüísticas como también aquellas que utilicen técnicas psicofisiológicas como la resonancia magnética funcional, el electroencefalograma (EEG=, el EEG intracraneal, el seguimiento ocular y la tomografía por emisión de positrones. Esto permitirá revisar la metodología que se empleará en el proyecto de investigación y permitirá comprender los resultados que arroje a luz de la evidencia conocida.

THE DESIGN OF A PSYCHOLINGUISTIC TEST FOR THE EVALUATION OF AN ORTHOGRAPHIC COMPLEXITY EFFECT ON THE READING TIME OF WORDS AND NON-WORDS.

The grant will be part of an UBACyT project that aims to specify the cognitive subtypes of alterations in reading (alexias) and writing (agraphias) in Spanish-speaking aphasic patients. My task within the research project will be to design and perfect a reading test with non-lesion subjects that later, in the context of the UBACyT project, will be applied to the diagnosis of patients with aphasic alexia. The test aims to evaluate an effect of the complexity of grapheme-phoneme conversion rules on the reaction time in reading aloud. Specifically, a) I will select stimuli while controlling the pertinent psycholinguistic variables (lexical variables: frequency, imaginability, concreteness, and orthographic neighbors; sublexical variables: bigram frequency and grapheme-phoneme conversion rule length and complexity), b) I will load these stimuli into the software Superlab that enables reaction-time measurements, and c) I will use the resulting test to evaluate a group of subjects without brain lesions and with high education. As part of the grant, I will collaborate in the
search and analysis of up-to-date bibliography on reading and its alterations due to brain lesions.
