edad.
Tema en Inglés:
Dimensionality of the Revised Test of Need for cognitive closure (RT-NCC)
Palabras Clave en Inglés:1) NEED FOR COGNITIVE CLOSURE 2) RIGHT WING
AUTHORITARIANISM 3) SOCIAL DOMINANCE ORIENTATION
Resumen del tema en inglés: The need for cognitive closure is the motivation
of people to seek and maintain a definitive answer to a given problem, as opposed
to confusion, ambiguity and / or uncertainty (Webster & Kruglanski, 1994).
It is made up of two different and complementary trends: the Seizing Tendency
(predisposition to seek an immediate response to a problem or uncertainty) and
freezing tendency (desire to maintain and perpetuate said cognitive closure,
leading to a predisposition both to preserve closure, as to avoid considering
new information that may question the need for closure). To assess this phenomenon,
the authors developed the Need for Cognitive Closure Scale (NCC), whose original
formulation presented a one-dimension factor structure. However, subsequent
works (Pierro & Kruglanski, 2005) highlighted the presence of a bifactorial
structure and to assess it they built a new scale: the Revised NCC Test (TR-NCC).
The main aim of this work is to study the dimensionality of the RT-NCC scale
in the Argentine context. To do this, we will work with an intentional, non-probabilistic
sample, made up of university students from Buenos Aires City (N = 400), of
different sex and age.
