Resumen:
En el año 1996 emprendimos una investigación que denominamos ¨ Cómo vemos a los viejos, cómo se ven ellos a sí mismos ¨, y cuyo objetivo principal fue indagar acerca de:
1. La representación social que acerca de la vejez circula en nuestro medio.
2. Su relación con la representación de sí en los ancianos.
En su curso surgieron variedad de datos e interrogantes cuyo tratamiento no hemos agotado.
Estos constituyen el punto de partida de la investigación que hoy planteamos.
Durante el envejecimiento se producen transformaciones intra e intersubjetivas y se producen cambios en la representación de sí, integrándose las nuevas a aquellas que se asientan sobre experiencias previas, en una única línea de historización.
En la mujer que envejece se da un cruce entre una serie de representaciones de sí que hacen a su historia individual dentro del marco que le otorgan las creencias y mitos familiares y las determinaciones provenientes de las representaciones sociales.
Indagaremos pues en nuestro medio, bajo estos supuestos los siguientes problemas:
· La posibilidad de que cambios socio-históricos y culturales determinen nuevas representaciones sociales acerca de la mujer, y consecuentemente transformaciones en la identidad de género.
· Y por esta vía, influyan en la construcción de las diferentes modalidades de envejecimiento.

Abstract:
SOCIAL REPRESENTATION"S DINAMYC AND IT INFLUENCE IN THE FEMALE AGING
In 1996 we undertook a research that was called "How we see the elderly people, how they see hemselves"; whose main goal was to inquire about: 1) the social representation of the old age that circulates in our environment; 2) its relationship with the elderly people's self representation.
In its course, a variety of data and questioning have risen whose processin has not been exhausted. This is the starting point of the present research. In ageing changes in the self-representation are introduced and inter and intra-subjective transformations take place so that new representations come together with those based on previous experiences in a unique line of historicity. When the woman gets old a crossing takes place between a series of self-representations that makes up her individual history within the framework provided by the family beliefs and myths and the determinations from the dynamic historical and social representations.
With these assumptions, we will look into the following issues:
· the possibility that the social-historical and cultural changes determine new social representations about the woman, therefore contribute to the gender identity,
· and so, have an influence on the construction of different modalities of ageing.
