El presente proyecto continúa una serie de investigaciones destinadas a elucidar conceptos del último período de la obra de Jacques Lacan con el propósito de aplicarlos a la resolución de problemas clínicos y psicopatológicos. La investigación 1998-2000 (UBACyT TP34) examinó el uso del concepto de síntoma y su función en las psicosis. Las investigaciones 2001-2003 (UBACyT P034 y UBACyT P007) avanzaron, respectivamente, sobre las relaciones entre la histeria y la femineidad, y la estructura del nudo trébol en la paranoia. La investigación 2004-2007 (UBACyT P091) abordó la cadena borromea en la histeria, explorando la frontera entre histeria y esquizofrenia. La investigación 2008-2010 (UBACyT P022) examinó las escrituras de los anudamientos neuróticos a partir de la noción de sinthome. Finalmente, la investigación 2011-2014 (UBACyT 20020100100016) procuró establecer y articular con precisión las distintas versiones de la función del padre que entrega el último período de la obra de Jacques Lacan. El proyecto actual parte de la reformulación que Lacan realiza en los años setenta del concepto de síntoma, señalando que éste no solo implica una operación de sustitución significante ?la metáfora- sino que comporta una satisfacción paradojal, resistente al sentido y residual en el análisis. Durante el último período de su enseñanza la problemática de lo real del síntoma presentará abordajes sucesivos y cambiantes que el presente proyecto buscará precisar, así como sus articulaciones con los conceptos de signo, cifra, letra y sentido, elaborados en la misma época. A su vez, abordará los modos en que opera la interpretación analítica, en su relación al síntoma, en la clínica de la neurosis.

THE SYMPTOM, THE SENSE AND THE REAL IN THE LAST PERIOD OF JACQUES LACAN´S TEACHING (1971-81)

The present project continues a series of research projects intended to elucidate concepts of the last period of Jacques Lacan´s teaching with the purpose of applying them to the resolution of different clinical and psychopathological issues. Research project 1998-2000 (UBACyT TP34) examined the use of the concept of symptom and its role in the psychotic structure. Projects 2001-2003 (UBACyT P034 and UBACyT P007) respectively moved on the relationships between hysteria and femininity, and the structure of the clover knot in paranoia. Research 2004-2007 (UBACyT P091) addressed the borromean chain in hysteria, exploring the frontier between hysteria and schizophrenia. Research Project 2008-2010 (UBACyT P022) tackled the writings of the neurotic knottings based on the notion of sinthome. Finally, research 2011-2014 (UBACyT 20020100100016) aimed to establish and articulate precisely the different versions of the function of the father that can be traced in the last period of Jacques Lacan´s teaching. The current project begins with the reformulation that Lacan makes of the concept of symptom in the seventies, when he points out that it does not consist only in a significant replacement operation ? the metaphor ? but it also involves a paradoxical satisfaction, which is sense resistant and residual in the analysis process. During the last period of his teaching the problematic about the real of the symptom will present successive and changing approaches which this project will aim to clarify, as well as its relationships with some other concepts like sign, cypher, letter and sense, elaborated during the same period. Besides, it
will seek to engage the different ways in which the analytical interpretation works, in its relation with the symptom, in the clinic of neurosis.
