(DIF).
Simulation studies for the analysis of the differential item functioning
and applications of the item response theory to an analogical reasoning test.
The work plan of the scholarship will be to develop simulation studies for the
detection of the Differential Item Functioning (DIF). The type I error will be
studied for the Breslow-Day (BD) tests that include items with uniform DIF and
the statistical power for the non uniform and symmetric DIF. The incidence of
the sample size and the presence or not of impact in the detection of DIF will
be analyzed with the BD global test and tendency test, and with the rules that
these tests combine with the Mantel-Haenzel procedure. The Item Response Theory
(one, two and three parameters models, multiple election and cognitive components
item responses, among others) will be applied to the psychometric shaping of an
analogical, non verbal and abstract reasoning scale in a sample of collage students
of the Buenos Aires City. Validity and reliability criteria will be established
for the test. The DIF detection methods results will be applied to the data obtained
once the test is administered. For the items that show the presence of the DIF,
the possible causes of it’s differential functioning will be studied, that
is, the presence of bias.
