El presente proyecto se propone investigar el concepto freudiano de carácter con el objetivo de indagar si el carácter es una defensa frente a lo real y/o testimonio de lo real mismo. Según el modo de comprender el concepto se derivan distintas operaciones analíticas. Tanto Freud como Lacan han articulado el carácter con la modalidad paradigmática de la defensa obsesiva frente a lo real. Partiendo de esta dimensión, esta investigación se propone abordar la relación entre el carácter y lo real del síntoma como goce opaco al sentido, siendo que esta última articulación ha sido escasamente investigada en el ámbito psicoanalítico. Para tal fin, se explorarán los conceptos: rasgos de carácter, fijación y compulsión de repetición en Freud, para indagarlos en su relación con las elaboraciones de Lacan respecto al sinthome como goce de la letra (Lacan, 1975-1976). Se examinará la relación entre los rasgos de carácter y los restos sintomáticos de un análisis, para reflexionar sobre lo incurable e imprescindible del síntoma en la política del sinthome. El abordaje de análisis será psicoanalítico freudo-lacaniano, sin dejar de lado las lecturas y los aportes fundamentales que han realizado otros autores post-freudianos (Reich, 1949; Fenichel, 1966; Alexander, 1985).

THE CHARACTER: DEFENCE AGAINST THE REAL AND/OR TESTIMONY OF THE REAL ITSELF. A CONCEPTUAL PERSPECTIVE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES IN THE PSYCHOANALYTICAL CLINIC.

The present project aims to investigate the Freudian concept of character in order to find out if the character constitutes a defence against the real and/or a testimony of the real itself. Depending on the mode the concept is understood, different analytical operations are derived in clinical experience. Both Freud and Lacan have articulated the character with the paradigmatic mode of the obsessive defence against the real. Starting from this dimension, this research intends to address the relationship between the character and the real in the symptom as opaque enjoyment to the sense, acknowledging that this last articulation has been poorly investigated in the psychoanalytic field. For this purpose, we will explore the concepts: character traits, fixation and compulsion to repetition in Freud, and analyse them in their relationship with Lacan´s works about the sinthome as letter enjoyment (Lacan, 1975-1976). We will study the relationship between the character traits and the symptomatic remainders of an analysis to think about the incurable and essential of the symptom in the case of the sinthome. The analysis approach will be Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalytic, without neglecting the readings and fundamental contributions made by other post-Freudian authors (Reich, 1949; Fenichel, 1996; Alexander, 1985).
